Should social media star Logan Paul be forgiven?

For the past few weeks, social media “superstar” Logan Paul has been the center of the attention all over the internet.

Paul flew to Japan to record videos for his YouTube channel that he thought his audience would really enjoy, but no this idea back lashed in his face. While in Japan, Paul made several videos where he basically played around in Japan, disturbing the peace. The worst of this was when Paul went to the Aokigahara Forest and recorded a dead body.

Yes, Logan Paul went to the Aokigahara Forest, also known as the suicide forest, and recorded a dead body. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he also preceded to make really disturbing jokes as his friends laughed while recording the body.  Although extremely graphic videos, like the ones Paul recorded, violate YouTube’s guidelines, he proceeded to post it anyway.

The Suicide Forest also known as the Aokigahara Forest is located in National forest in Fujikawaguchiko, Japan and is rumored to be where manyost people go to end their lives.

“I think he should’ve thought about it before posting it,” Jaime Cupido said.

While the videos’ controversy went unnoticed for a little, after a couple hours, many viewers, including celebrities, noticed what he did was wrong and tweeted about it on Twitter. Many people complained to YouTube because they thought he was getting away with what he did.

Should he be forgiven?

“I want to forgive Logan Paul because I’m sure he never meant to find a  dead body and offend anyone. But I can’t forgive him because he still uploaded the video to YouTube even though he had come across someone’s dead relative,” Kareem Sabir said.

While I’m not a huge follower of  Paul, he should be forgiven for what he did, and here’s why:

  • Everyone makes mistakes. Yes, Paul was wrong for what he uploaded, but he did apologize to everyone he offended in that video and also took the video down to not cause anymore controversy.  He apologized in a video, saying he was truly sorry for what he did and told all of his fans it won’t happen again. In the video, it seemed that Logan really was sorry for what he did as well as making the whole video really well and i think he should be forgiven for that as well.
  • Paul is still young. He is currently 22 years old so he doesn’t fully understand if the right or wrong in certain actions.  In fact, studies show that the rational part of a teen’s brain isn’t fully developed and won’t be until age 25 or so.
  • After Paul apologized for what he did, he went to San Diego and interviewed many suicide prevention leaders and interviewed an actual person who almost commited
  • suicide to give him and his audience a better understanding of the meaning of what life truly means to him and everyone else who watches his videos.

After Paul uploaded the video on suicide prevention, he decided to donate $1 million  to suicide prevention companies all around to world to help people who are really in need and for the people in this world that are actually suffering like this.

Paul has over 16 million subscribers with over 3 billion views on his main channel. He was originally famous on the social media app “Vine”, where he made videos of himself dabbing at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
